The primary statute governing the administration of substantive criminal law in Pakistan is the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. It offers the tools necessary for crime investigation, apprehending suspected offenders, gathering evidence, determining an accused person's guilt or innocence, and deciding on a course of action. It covers the entirety of Pakistan, but unless otherwise specified, nothing in it will impact any local or special laws currently in effect, any special authority or power granted, or any unique procedure prescribed by any other law currently in effect.
